MOTORCYCLE REVIEW: 2011 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic

Just to give you an idea of how much I like the Heritage Softail Classic, when I was asked on the last two touring press rides I attended to choose what Harley-Davidson model I’d like to ride, I chose the Heritage Softail Classic—the 2010 model when it was brand-new and the 2011 the following year.

MOTORCYCLE REVIEW: 2010/2011 Aprilia Mana 850 GT ABS

The middleweights—the 750, 850 and 900cc bikes—are a popular class of motorcycle among women who prefer sport touring. In 2008, Aprilia introduced the Mana 850 to the United States, and women have been interested in this sport tourer ever since.

MOTORCYCLE REVIEW: 2010 Honda VFR1200F DCT With Automatic Transmission

Manufacturers regularly update and improve upon motorcycles already in their lineups, but last year Honda didn’t just make an existing model better—it designed a brand-new VFR. A sleek, 167-horsepower, liquid-cooled, 76-degree V-4 VFR1200F has taken the place of the “either you love it or hate it” VTEC VFR800.

MOTORCYCLE REVIEW: Roar WildKaT Customized to Size

You know the drill. You see the motorcycle, you love its looks—it’s the bike of your dreams. Then you throw a leg over, and it’s just not right. The seat is too high, the pegs are too far forward, the handlebars too wide. Sure, you could change those items, adding even more money to the motorcycle’s price and leaving you with dust-gathering spare parts. If only, like Goldilocks, you could find the motorcycle that fits just right…

Motorcycle Review: 2011 Star Stryker

With a super-low 26.4-inch seat height and a weight nearly 100 pounds lighter than the Raider, Star Motorcycles predicts that its new Stryker will appeal particularly to female riders. To find out if thats the case, writer Tricia Szulewski flew out to Austin, Texas, for the official press introduction of the new Star Stryker. In her article, she shares her comprehensive review and an account of her test ride in the open Texas countryside.

MOTORCYCLE REVIEW: Kawasaki ER-6n: A New Favorite for Women

After sitting on the Kawasaki ER-6n and then taking it for a test ride, I knew instantly that this all-new motorcycle, introduced in model year 2009, has that special quality that will (and is) attracting lots of women riders.

MOTORCYCLE REVIEW: 2010 Honda VT1300 Interstate

I’m a sportbike gal at heart but when I heard about Honda’s newest custom cruisers, the VT1300 line, I had to check them out. There are three bikes based on the same platform: The Sabre differs from the other two with its muscular styling, skinnier front tire and chromed engine; the Stateline and Interstate have blacked-out engines and a retro look with their deeply valanced fenders and wider handlebars.

MOTORCYCLE REVIEW: Kawasaki Tourers for Every Taste

People ask me, “What is a touring bike?” and I always say it’s any bike you’re touring on. I know I know, but really, unless you’re doing some truly hardcore riding, anything with a decent-sized gas tank that’s comfortable for a couple-day’s ride that you can strap some gear on is fine. Still, it’s very nice to have a bike that’s actually built for touring and the 650cc Versys is a versatile choice.

READER MOTORCYCLE REVIEW: 2007 Triumph Bonneville with Jawa Sidecar

I don’t get mad when people call me a “hack” mom; I take it as a compliment. I am a single mom of two beautiful daughters, ages 12 and 17. My 17-year-old is legally blind, and riding on the back of a motorcycle was very disorienting for her. She just didn’t enjoy it, so I never pushed. Motorcycling has been and always will be a big part of my life, and I wanted to share the love I have for it with my children.
