I use to wear armored gloves just when riding a sportbike and more casual non-armored ones, like deerskins, when riding a cruiser, like my own. These days, Im find myself wearing more protection riding my cruiser and that means looking to the sport market for armored gloves.

In the first few decades of the twentieth dentury, the roads made motorcycle touring a rugged sport. Before concrete interstates and blacktop secondary roads, most roads were dirt or gravel trails. Venturing far outside the city required a flair for adventure, a lot of stamina and a rugged machine. The fact that men ventured forth under those conditions was unquestioned, but for the women to do the same caused a great deal of attention, because of their presumably passive role. Even among these exceptional female motorcycle pioneers, some stood out… like a Waco, Texas, woman named Della Crewe.
The only way to be sure your motorcycle is road ready is by performing a pre-ride inspection before every ride. It only takes a few minutes to look things over and check things out. A pre-ride inspection should become as automatic as watching the weather forecast or grabbing your gear.

It isnt hard to find a pair of gloves to keep your hands warm for winter riding. I must have five pairs of them. But it is hard to find a pair that fit a womans hands properly and arent so bulky that you feel like youre wearing boxing gloves. Like many women, I have small hands, and most gloves are cut for a mans hands. Women have to buy size small or extra-small if theyre available.
