For the Family

Events: Steel Horse Sisterhood Summit Rocks Denver

For me, the Steel Horse Sisterhood Summit was also a sort of coming-of-age as a female motorcycle rider, having never attended such an event before. Being accepted with open arms by hundreds of seasoned motorcyclists made it feel as if I had reached a milestone in my year and a half experience of riding. No competition, no cattiness, no judgment; just kinship on an unspoken level.

The Trade-Offs of a Motorcycling Life

While working in the Starbucks this afternoon (our office when we are on the road) Ive seen one beautiful, professionally dressed woman after another walk in for their daily treats. I admire their fashion sense, their grace, their gorgeous heels and flowing skirts, long tan legs, flowing, smooth hair…

Movie Review: “Why We Ride” from a Woman’s Perspective

The panoramic and stark white shots of the Bonneville land speed tryouts alone are worth the price of admission. It is home to Mount Whitney (the highest peak in the continental U.S.), and the famous peaks of Yosemite National Park. I achieved this goal with my husband and daughter on our journey to and from the AMA conference.

Reader Story: How One Woman Inspired Another to Ride

Don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing bad about riding pillion on the back of a motorcycle. For many years, I used to sit behind my husband, Jonny, on his Harley-Davidson Softail Deuce, spacing out and staring at the scenery. But now that I’ve taken the leap to the rider’s seat, I’m encouraging more women to move from the back seat to actively riding their own bikes.
