Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2010 Recap

The 70th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is now history and by all accounts the 7-day official event that ended Sunday, August 15, is shaping up to be a record attendance year with early estimates around 600,000, up from the 442,000 in 2009. The increase was expected as milestone-rally years like the 70th always attract larger crowds.

New Motorcycles for 2011

Harley-Davidson and Suzuki are introducing several new models for 2011. Harley-Davidson is debuting the new SuperLow, on which Women Riders Now editor Genevieve Schmitt got an exclusive test ride. Also for 2011 is the race inspired XR1200X, and the Road Glide Ultra, a new touring model. In addition, four CVO models are being unveiled.

Ride To Work Day is Monday June 21

On Monday, June 21, the number of motorcycles and scooters on roads and highways will more than double as many riders become two-wheeled commuters to the office in support of Ride To Work Day. Ride To Work is a non-profit organization that promotes this day each year to help demonstrate that riding is an efficient, economical form of personal transportation which makes parking easier and helps traffic flow better.

WRN Celebrates Women Riders Month with Giveaway

The month of May is Women Riders Month and Women Riders Now (WRN) is celebrating by giving away four Scala rider G4 PowerSet Bluetooth intercom systems, one each to four lucky readers. Starting May 3 and running through May 31, visitors to WRN will be asked to fill out a five-question survey to be entered to win one of four helmet intercom systems. There four chances to win.

May is Women Riders Month; Schedule Set for Milwaukee Event

Women Riders Now was the was the first media outlet to report on a very special event happening as part of Women Riders Month called Celebrate Women Riders put on by Harley-Davidson where women from around the world will join together in Milwaukee on May 22 and 23, 2010. Now The Motor Company is releasing its schedule of activities that is open to the public and to all brands of motorcycles.

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is reminding riders that they may be eligible for a federal tax deduction on their 2009 taxes if they bought a new motorcycle last year. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act a landmark $787 billion economic stimulus package that President Barack Obama signed into law in February 2009 provides a deduction for state and local sales and excise taxes paid on the purchase of qualified new vehicles from Feb. 17 through Dec. 31, 2009.
