Trikes are more popular than ever, and to capitalize on this growing interest, South Dakota-based Lehman Trikes invited trike lovers to rev up their engines for its inaugural All-Trike Ride at the Sturgis Rally in August. The ride was part of the company’s Good Turn Trike presentation, awarding one deserving winner with a brand-new trike.

About 100 female riders showed up to participate in the first Biker Belles ride, an all-women ride (where men could ride in the back) taking place during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in August. WRN Editor Genevieve Schmitt participated in and covered the ride.

Yesterday, Conga IV rally organizer, Flo Fuhr, and her posse of pink partners rode in from western Canada to the WRN offices in Livingston, Mont., to say hello on their way to Shell, Wyo., for the Conga IV rally this weekend. I shot some video of them on their visit. They are raising money along the way for breast cancer research charities.

The coast-to-coast Cannonball Run is now history and one of the two women riding in a field of 45 motorcyclists is the winner in her class of machine. Katrin Boehner, a 41-year-old rider from Germany, won the class of single cylinder, single speed bikes riding her 250cc 1907 J.A.P. motorcycle 3,000 miles over 16 days.

The Deerhurst Resort, nestled on 800 acres of rolling wooded countryside, beside Peninsula Lake in the small town of Huntsville, Ontario, made the big time this past June when it hosted the 36th annual G8 summit. Just two months later, from August 12-15, the resort was also the suiting locale for the inaugural International Women Riders Congress and Festival.

On May 22 and 23, more than 1000 women rode in to Milwaukee for Harley-Davidsons first two-day rally celebrating women riders. There were demo rides, seminars, and a lot of riding opportunities as local dealers and merchants hosted riding events.

There was a variety of vendors at the August event held in Keystone, Colo., selling everything from socks and motorcycling luggage to jewelry and handlebar cup holders.
