U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords, the congresswoman who was shot in January is a motorcyclist and cochairs the Congressional Motorcycle Caucus. The bipartisan caucus, also chaired by Congressman Michael Burgess from Texas, has existed for many years and is made up of members of Congress who are passionate about motorcycling and who work to promote the interests of motorcyclists.

I will be attending the Progressive International Motorcycle Show this weekend in Long Beach with a meet and greet table in the “Women Ride” lounge area. I’ll also be giving a presentation in that area called “How to Get What You Want and Need out of Motorcycling” on Friday at 6:30, Saturday at 1:30 and Sunday at 12:30. I love it when I hear of someone following their dreams, especially when it involves motorcycling. My friend and colleague in the motorcycle industry, Jessica Prokup, formerly with the Motorcycle Industry Council and Discover Today’s Motorcycling (and before that editor of RoadBike magazine) recently left the MIC to pursue her dream of opening up a retail shop.
