Reader Story: The Best Reason to Ride

I dont ride a motorcycle to build or create an identity for myself. I am who I am whether I ride or not. I dont ride to prove that women are strong, brave and adventurous enough to ride motorcycles. I was those things before I began to ride and I think most women are, whether they like motorcycles or not (and still, the bravest, most challenging thing Ive ever done is raise kids!).

Garage Parties in Full Swing in March

Women motorcyclists have been the fastest growing demographic in the motorcycle industry since 1990, when women represented just three percent of riders. Today, women represent 23 percent of all motorcyclists, and in an effort to encourage this growing trend of women hitting the open road, Harley-Davidson is celebrating National Garage Party Month in March by hosting nearly 400 Garage Party events at dealerships across the country.

New Women Motorcycling Rally To Be Held

There is a new womens motorcycle rally shaping up in the southern Midwest region called Bikes Babes Bling scheduled for July 1-3, 2010 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Bikes Babes Bling is the sister rally of Bikes Blues BBQ festival which just celebrated its 10 year anniversary in 2009. The goal of this first time female oriented event, say rally organizers, is to focus on providing women a safe and fun experience where they can come together to share their love of motorcycles and riding.
