Stylish Functional Textile Jacket and Chaps

Interesting new designs

After reading this article, please visit Girl Gears ad in the WRN Mall.

The stunning design of this jacket from Girl Gear really caught our eye. The combination of the popular leopard style with brown and black is one of a kind. Its called the Morocco Jacket and it showcases some thoughtful features that show this jacket was definitely designed by a woman who rides.

A waterproof flap protects the zipper so water won#39;t seep in.

Like most performance riding jackets, the Morocco has a waterproof, breathable membrane with a wind resistant outer shell and a 150 gram 3M Thinsulate zip-out vest. The three outside pockets and two inside pockets ensure you have enough room for the riding essentials. Reflective piping and CE-rated armor in the shoulders, elbows, and spine add to the safety elements of the jacket.

Arm and waist adjusters allow the jacket to fit your body so you can be comfortable, and adjustable cuffs form a tight seal around your wrist. A dropped back design keeps wind and water from findings its way to your lower back, and the collar was designed to so it doesnt hit the bottom of your helmet, which can be annoying sometimes. The Morocco is available in sizes S-XL with a price tag of $199.

An extra long back keeps your lower back covered and dry.

EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK: Textile Riding Chaps
Were the first ones to get a look at these new textile riding chaps as they wont be available until January. The adjustability and versatility of these chaps allow them to fit women of all shapes and sizes. The chaps are made of a 1200 Denier textile material that is water and wind resistant. The full length non-separating zippers let you put on your chaps without removing your boots. Reflective piping and removable knee protection make these chaps as protective as you want them to be.

There are Velcro adjuster panels at the thigh and ankle to achieve a snug or loose fit, and four adjustable snaps on the mid-leg also increase the personal fit. A drop-out seam on the cuffs can add length if needed, or because the side zipper doesnt extend the full pant length, you can easily shorten the chaps. Length can also be adjusted at the hip where straps adjust over your pants belt, and multiple snaps ensure these will fit you.

These chaps adjust almost everywhere to guarantee a great fit.

The chaps are available in two sizes and cost $100. They will be available in January like we mentioned above, but you can put your order in now as they take three months to make. You wont find them yet on the Girl Gear Web site but feel free to contact owner Shelly Reiner and tell her you read about them on WRN.

These are just two of the unique items from Girl Gear and they are available at GirlGearApparel.com.

  1. I am jealous of Geja in Spain who doesn't understand the need for extra warmth for riding. Our winters in Calgary can start very early and can be quite chilly! We peservere in early spring cause we want to get out there and ride after the long winter!

I love the jacket and the whole idea of creating wear for women! It is so hard to find anything to fit, and although I am not very big, it is still hard to find appropriate clothing. Everything seems to be made for teenies with no life on their bodies!
Love your concept, keep it coming!

  2. I agree with the other ladies about the sizing and what we are forced to wear due to the lack of a reality check from the merchants around the world. Plus-sized women have their own money, and buy their own bikes. We want our own line of clothes. Would someone open their eyes and know that there is a huge market for plus-sized motorcycle clothing and gear with style. There is a line of motorcycle riding plus-sized women waiting to spend cash on some style.

Hold on girls — as soon as I get all my ducks in a row I will be the designer of those things we want, so look for me in the future under the label MUCHLOVE

  3. I love the look and options for the jacket.
I don't think the chaps would keep you warm in the cool evenings in the north. Also what do you do if you don't wear a belt to hold them up?

    1. Here is a response from Shelly Reiner, the owner of Girl Gear: I have worn the chaps in 50 degree weather. The wind does not penetrate and the Velcro at the ankles keeps the air from going up the leg. They are as warm as my Aerostich pants. My jacket is over my waist and the bike tank protects the crotch area from cold/wind.

I do not know of many chaps that are not worn with a belt. Do you? I think that is why they are chaps and not pants.

  4. I agree with Kristy. I am a “woman of substance”, a “big babe”, etc. It has been really hard to find “off the rack” clothing made for the larger woman. And even when you find a 4XL something — when you look at the sizing chart, you soon find out that the companies idea of 3XL to 4XL is a size 18-20 — which is sooo not me.

I am tired of plain old black leather or having to shop in the men's section, and while I am getting healthy slowly but surely, it would be nice to have a really good looking and functional jacket/riding gear now.

  5. This jacket is too cool. Can't wait to check it out. Great colors and I really like the cut.

  6. I LOVE this jacket. I have the 105th Anniversary H-D Screamin' Eagle Springer which is the copper and black and this will go perfectly with it. I see a purchase in my future. This shows how you can be girly-girl and fun on an old school fast Harley at the same time!

Great recommendation and I look forward to more.

  7. This is a great article. I wish they were made in womens size too, 1X-4X. I love the look of the jacket and pants. I have been looking for something like this but always look at guys since a lot of women's sizes are to small and I am a 3X.

  8. It's looks like a great jacket and I think the leopard design is great. But I can't see the use and/or need for wind/water resistant chaps. What about the crotch? Sure all water would enter through there? Anyway, I love your site and follow it daily.
