Our Women Riders NowBeginners Guide to Getting Into Motorcyclingsuggestsa learn-to-ride program such as the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) BasicRiderCourseas the best place to start your journey to become a motorcyclist.
In a move that will help more women and men become passionate about motorcycles and learn how to ride safely, Triumph Motorcycles is partnering with the MSF to make the $20 MSF Basic eCourse available free of charge to prospective new riders or former riders interested in riding again. The eCourse is a prerequisite for the in-person MSF Basic RiderCourse, so students enrolled in the Basic RiderCourseand Returning RiderCourse need to complete this online training prior to arriving to their first day of class.
The online Basic eCourse is a great introduction to riding, covering topics like how to choose motorcycle gear, different types of motorcycles, and what the main controls and parts are and how they operate. There are short multiple choice quizzes at the end of each section and the entire eCourse takes about three hours to complete.
Erik Pritchard, President and CEO of the MSF and Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC), says, “We’re excited to partner with Triumph and help people embark on their journey into motorcycling. The MSF believes in lifelong learning, and prospective riders will find the eCourse to be the best first step to becoming a lifelong rider.”
The MIC’s initiative to “Get More Riders Riding More” fits right in with the Triumph Motorcycles partnership.
“Triumph Motorcycles has always been ‘For The Ride’ so this is a very fitting partnership to help share that passion,” says Triumph Motorcycles America’s General Manager Rod Lopusnak. “Now more than ever, people are looking for new forms of recreation, so I couldn’t think of a better time to help them discover the joy of riding.”
To facilitate the offer, Triumph has launched the website TriumphRider.com, where prospective riders may complete a form to be emailed a unique promo code, which can be applied when they register on the MSF website to redeem the free Basic eCourse, compliments of Triumph.

This is great! I have been riding for 14 years now, thanks to the MSF program at my local Harley-Davidson dealership. I would never have purchased a motorcycle without first getting this great training from MSF, which starts you from the very beginning basics, or “baby steps” as they called it. And then it’s just lots and lots of practice!
