The fifth annual Harley-Davidson MDA Women’s Ride at this year’s Daytona Bike Week was a great success, with approximately 168 riders (and three dogs) in attendance. The Harley-Davidson MDA Women’s Ride started back in 2008 as an opportunity for women to meet up with Karen Davidson, great granddaughter of one of the founders of Harley-Davidson.

When Steve Seidner founded CSC Motorcycle Company under the name California Scooter Company in 2008, he wanted to prove his 150cc motorcycles could travel long distances and stand the test of many miles. So in November 2010, a group of five riders rode CSC motorcycles from San Diego, Calif., to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and back, a nine-day, 2,000-mile ride covering the length of the Baja peninsula.

Shayna Texter, a 20-year-old flat track racer, made history late November when she became the first female in AMA Grand National history to win a GNC Pro Singles main event. Shayna’s win marks the first time a woman has won a main event in the more than 50-year existence of the sport, considered the oldest and most traditional form of motorcycle racing.
