The fifth annual Harley-Davidson MDA Women’s Ride at this year’s Daytona Bike Week was a great success, with approximately 168 riders (and three dogs) in attendance. The Harley-Davidson MDA Women’s Ride started back in 2008 as an opportunity for women to meet up with Karen Davidson, great granddaughter of one of the founders of Harley-Davidson.

A record number of women competed at the world-renowned land-speed trials at the Bonneville Speedway the last week in August. Twenty-one women raced their motorcycles down the Bonneville Salt Flats, the wide-open salt bed near the Utah and Nevada border, to attempt to set new speed records in the classes they’d entered.

About 100 female riders showed up to participate in the first Biker Belles ride, an all-women ride (where men could ride in the back) taking place during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in August. WRN Editor Genevieve Schmitt participated in and covered the ride.

Yesterday, Conga IV rally organizer, Flo Fuhr, and her posse of pink partners rode in from western Canada to the WRN offices in Livingston, Mont., to say hello on their way to Shell, Wyo., for the Conga IV rally this weekend. I shot some video of them on their visit. They are raising money along the way for breast cancer research charities.
