Fashionable Riding Gloves

I often find myself perusing the latest collection of protective, fashionable riding jumpsuits ATWYLD is known for when I see it at events. Recently, though, the Light Speed gloves are what caught my eye with their simple, striking retro stripe design. They also include knuckle protection, which I love. When I tried them on, I was instantly impressed with the softness of the leather and the attention to detail.

The fashionable and functional Light Speed leather gloves are a winner in ATWYLD’s lineup which they tout as “classic, but with a modern flare.” The supersoft leather and simple functional design make these gloves a win at $89.

Made For Women By Women

A small core team of women with fashion design backgrounds who ride motorcycles is the force behind the ATWYLD brand. This is why the brand is known for an impeccable blending of function, form, and style. The ATWYLD Light Speed motorcycle gloves are a perfect example of this that any street rider will love. They even have a tactile patch on the forefingers and thumbs to enable touchscreen use with the gloves on.

The abrasion-resistant 0.7-0.8 mm thick UV-coated cowhide leather feels soft and supple at the first try-on. The ergonomic female fit is designed for comfort on long rides.

These gloves are loaded with comfort and protective features. Here you can see the double layered padded leather in the palm that provides extra protection in a slide. The fingers are sewn with the seams on the outside to eliminate chafing or pressure points from interior seams.

I always opt for gloves with reinforced protection for the top of the hand and am impressed that the Light Speed gloves have CE-rated hard knuckle protection which I consider a critical feature of motorcycle gloves.

True Women’s Sizing

Since ATWYLD apparel is so stylish, my initial expectation was that it would be sized smaller than standard, so I ordered large gloves. I generally wear a 7.5 or 8 women’s glove and the large is actually somewhat loose. I’m usually between a medium and large, and expect the smaller size would stretch appropriately. So be sure to consult ATWYLD’s size chart or try its gloves on when you find them at an event before buying. Once you get a sense of the brand’s sizing, it is consistent throughout the collections.

I prefer gauntlet style gloves like these that go over my jacket sleeve so there is no gap. The gauntlet on the Light Speed glove is just the right length and it cinches up easily with the YKK zipper. I only wish the gusset opened up wider and cinched more tightly even if that meant an additional few millimeters of leather because it would make the gloves easier to get on and cinch more tightly closed. Once on, however, the gloves are secure.

Choose The Right Glove For Your Ride

I’m a big fan of “black is the new black,” but know that many riders these days love the retro look of tan leather. Good news for you! ATWYLD has just introduced the Light Speed glove in tan.
