Keep Grime at Bay with Chaps For Your Motorcycle

Stay warmer and drier in rain

Heres a clever new product from Leader Motorcycle Accessories that reduces road grime, rocks and bug splat from getting on your chaps or pant legs, as well as some parts of your bike.

Desert Dawgs Rain Guards, as theyre called, attach to all standard highway bars with snaps that easily attach or remove them. The guards can also minimize cold updrafts for non-fairing motorcycles and repel road spray from the front wheel and flared front fender during rainstorms.

Desert Dawgs as shown on a Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad.
Desert Dawgs attach to standard highway bars.

Desert Dawgs are made from vinyl or leather and have no heat restrictions, so you don’t have to worry about them being too close to your engine. The vinyl ones come with the option of studs on them. The inside comes with a pocket to store small items you need to need to easily access like a map, notebook, or sunglasses.

Desert Dawgs Rain Guards are now available for the new Kawasaki Nomad 1700, as well as the Kawasaki Vulcan. Leader Motorcycles also makes Desert Dawgs for Harley-Davidson, Yamaha, Honda, and Suzuki motorcycles. For more information or to order a pair of Desert Dawgs, visit LeaderMotorcycle.com.

  1. Jill and all,

The Harley brand of engine guard covers DO restrict air flow and Harley tells you not to use them above 55 degrees.

The Desert Dawgs are different. Our patented design actually funnels some of the air through the engine (in fact, you'll sometimes feel the warmer air on the inside of your legs).

There is NO temperature restriction on Desert Dawgs! You can ride with them in as warm of weather as you can stand.
Desert Dawgs are also made of a much nicer material, and the craftsmanship is WAY beyond Harley's … but you don't have to take my word for it; see what our customers (who've HAD the Harley ones) have to say:

  2. I have been using a similar product (don't remember the brand name) on my Harleys for more than 10 years. They are great in cold and/or rainy weather but they do restrict air flow to the engine so I don't recommend them in hot weather.

  3. I have used the Deserts Dawgs on my '02 H-D Softail for several years and love them.
