Honda Unveils New Shadow for 2010

Plus new sport-tourer joins line-up

American Honda is releasing the Shadow Phantom, a new 750cc cruiser, for 2010 that follows the new trend that black is the new chrome. Its promoting it as having “clean lines and cool looks influenced by bobber styling.” Honda Motorcycles is also unveiling for 2010 the NT700V, a new lightweight sport touring motorcycle.

The Shadow Phantom offers an uncluttered look accented by an extensive blackout treatment. The torquey 5 speed 745cc V-twin engine features the convenience of a new sophisticated Programmed Fuel Injection. The bike is available in black only and will be in dealerships in November with an MSRP of $7999.

Features include:

Minimal bodywork and extensive blacked-out and matte finishes. New handlebar shape enhances bobber styling. Weight is 549 pounds.
The Phantom has a low 25.7-inch seat height. Unfortunately Honda did not provide any publicity images with a woman riding the Phantom so we#39;re breaking our rules by featuring a man riding the motorcycle. (You can see that anywhere. WRN is the place you#39;ll see only women riding motorcycles.)
Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) incorporates a single 34mm-diameter throttle body. Fuel capacity is 3.9 gallons.
Sturdy and responsive 41mm front fork features large-diameter matte-finished shrouds and large billet-aluminum triple-clamp for a distinctive look, neutral handling and a plush 4.6 inches of wheel travel. Dual-shock rear suspension features five-position spring preload adjustability and 3.5 inches of wheel travel for a smooth ride.

These aftermarket parts are available specifically for the Phantom from Honda Genuine Accessories:
– Backrest with pad (two styles: tall and low), rear carrier, backrest/carrier, boulevard screen, custom leather seat, solo rider rear carrier, cycle cover, front pouch, synthetic leather saddlebags.

NT700V
This new-for-2010 model is a fully equipped lightweight touring motorcycle designed for daily commuting as well as long haul touring. The bike features a stylish and functional fairing, interlinked saddlebags, a 5 speed 680cc V-twin engine and is available in metallic red and metallic silver colors. The ABS model is available in metallic silver color only and adds $1,000 to the price retailing for $10,999. The standard model retails for $9,999. Both will be in dealerships in November.

Features include:

Four-valve 680cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine for strong performance and economical operation. Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) delivers a responsive throttle over a wide range of throttle settings and riding conditions.
Combined Braking System (CBS) with a triple-disc brake system plus the option of ABS for confident braking in varying conditions. Seat height is 31.7 inches, manageable for a lot of women because of the bike#39;s light weight of just 566 pounds. Honda did not provide publicity photos of women riding the bike so we are breaking our rules by showing a man riding.
Convenient remote adjuster for rear shock spring preload adjustment facilitates changes in rear suspension settings. Fuel capacity is 5.2 gallons; tire sizes are front: 120/70 ZR17 radial; rear: 150/70 ZR17 radial.
Five-position windshield can be set at the preferred height.

These aftermarket parts are available specifically for the NT700V from Honda Genuine Accessories:
– Top box 45L red and silver, inner bag for the trunk, lower top box pad, fairing wind deflector set, knee pad set, heated grips, DC socket, tank pad, outdoor cycle cover.

  1. The Shadow Phantom looks like Honda's take on the Suzuki Boulevard M50 Black.

  2. Can't wait to try the NT. I have test driven the ST1300 but it's a bit to heavy. I've been researching and was happy to see some info on your Web site. Thanks.

  3. Love it. I have a Shadow and they are great bikes. Very nice looking. Thank you for featuring the Honda.
