Harley-Davidson Fennimore Jacket—For Women Who Ride
A good riding jacket will “hug you” comfortably, offering comfort and secure protection against the elements and a mishap. Usually, the higher the price, the better the quality and features. So, when you find a jacket for less than $200 with a plethora of features like Harley-Davidson’s $175 Fenimore women’s riding jacket, it’s worth a closer look.

Made from a type of heat-resistant polyester called “Carbolex,” the jacket is extremely lightweight but durable. I love the sporty details and white/black/orange design, but keeping a white jacket clean can be a chore. Thankfully, the white panels are treated with Teflon which works well to repel dirt.

Fennimore Jacket's Adjustable Fit Features
Being comfortable and protected are top priorities when it comes to motorcycle riding gear. The Fennimore jacket comes packed with features to offer a great fit for different body types. Snap tabs at the waist offer flexibility and large elasticized panels (Harley calls this “power stretch”) on each side provides a comfortably snug fit.

I’ve had my fair share of Harley-Davidson jackets, and the Fennimore runs true to size along the H-D line. I ordered a size up from what I used to wear, well, because I am a size larger than what I used to be, but also so that I can wear plenty of layers underneath the lightweight jacket in colder temperatures.

Safety and Flexibility
The Fennimore jacket does not come with armor, but there are pockets to add it to the back, shoulders, and elbows. Padded waist, elbows, and shoulders create an illusion of safety, but I highly recommend investing in real CE-certified body armor.

Comfort and Convenience
Of course, being comfortable is the ultimate requirement of any piece of gear. If it's not comfy, you won't want to wear it. Something as minor as having a zipper edge or unfinished collar that touches my neck has seen me tossing a jacket into a donation box. Luckily, Harley incorporates a soft neoprene collar to prevent any skin irritation on the neck. However, it’s fairly low, so I recommend using a buff in cooler weather.
Jacket vents are key to staying cool, and the Fennimore has many well-placed zippered vents. Two large vertical vents in the front, two in the rear, and one on each arm allow a true flow-through design previously mastered with Harley’s Triple-Vent System jackets like the one I wore on the 2018 Softail press launch. The side placement works well to get air flow passing through the jacket, even for passengers or riders with big fairings.
The Fennimore zippers include tabs large enough to easily use even with gloves on. Besides all the vents, there are a number of zippered pockets, as well as cuff zippers.
Fleece-lined zippered pockets in front are generously sized and warm hands quickly. There’s also an interior zippered pocket large enough to store a cell phone, money, credit cards, and more. There's also another non-zippered pocket on the interior lining front panel.

Harley-Davidson’s Fennimore jacket is bargain-priced for what it offers. But plan to spend at least $100 more to add armor (if you don’t already have some) for true protection. To learn more and order, go to Harley-Davidson.com or visit your local Harley-Davidson dealership.
