North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains will lend its twisting roads and scenic vistas to a womens motorcycling conference this May and organizers are hoping it will be the largest women’s motorcycling conference on the East Coast.
The Mountain Moxie, presented by the online community Moto Girl Café, takes place May 6–8, 2016 in Little Switzerland, North Carolina. Mountain Moxie is a three-day event dedicated to women who love motorcycling and the men who ride with them. The gathering takes place on the same weekend that International Female Ride Day falls on this year, May 7th.
Mountain Moxie will feature presentations by some inspiring women riders on topics such as international travel, long distance riding, Iron Butt adventures, racing and track days, bike building and motorcycle-related careers.
Donna Gardner:Track day coach, Team Pro-Motion
Melissa Paris: Professional motorcycle racer, MotoAmerica, FIM CEV Repsol International Championship, Superbike World Championship
Breeann Poland: Social media and digital marketing manager, Royal Enfield North America; former pro race team owner and manager
Gail Biddulph: Business consultant, international adventure rider, first woman to circumnavigate the coast of Great Britain
Gwen Phillips: Iron Butt record holder, national long distance rider
Sofi Tsingos: Bike builder, founder of GT-Moto
Laura Smith: Co-founder, Worse for Wear, a grassroots start-up company that manufactures womens motorcycle gear in Richmond, Virginia
All presentations will be held at the Switzerland Inn and are scheduled during breakfast and dinner hours, leaving plenty of time each day open for small group rides and area exploration. Included maps will guide riders through local mountain twisties, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the famous Diamondback route.
Mountain Moxie offers a unique opportunity for riders to learn from women motorcycling experts and enthusiasts and to create and build new friendships and networking relationships with others who share a love of motorcycling. Mountain Moxie is a female-focused event. However, men are welcome as paid guests of registered attendees.
In addition to presentations and group rides, motorcycle gear and service vendors and sponsors will be set up in the hotel lobby and parking lot. Breakout sessions will be available for special activities such as bike maintenance. Prize drawings will be held throughout the weekend and every participant will go home with an event T-shirt and goody bag.
