California Women in Motorcycling Awards

New awards honors female riders making a difference

Real Women Ride, the company behind the Annual Motorcycle Expo in Auburn, California, is holding an annual event to recognize women who live in California who have made a positive and significant impact inmotorcycling.

Real Women Ride is now accepting at-large nominations for the 2007 Women in Motorcycling Lifetime Achievement Awards to be presented at a breakfast event on Sunday, June 3, 2007 as part ofthe 2nd Annual Motorcycle Expo and Patriotic Paradise Weekend events in Auburn, Calif. Categories for award nominations include:

Category 1: Women who have worked to make the sport better through their promotion of motorcycling in the media by organizing events, or by projecting a positive image of motorcyclists through their own actions or reputation, etc. These women include individuals who work in the media;women employed in the motorcycle industry; women members of organizations; women who design and engineer unique motorcycle features for use on production or custom machines and related products.

Category 2: Women who work with or in government at a state, local or federal level including the Motorcycle Safety Foundation to protect the rights of motorcyclists; women who promote safety and rider training or advance street, trail or competition motorcycle riding opportunities.

Category 3: Women sportbike riders who have excelled in bringing their sport to the forefront through their own actions or reputation. These women ride either professionally or on their own and have projected a positive image of women and sportbikes.

Category 4: Women street bike riders who have excelled in bringing their sport to the forefront through their own actions or reputation. These women ride either professionally or on their own and have projected a positive image of women and street bikes.

Nomination forms must be accompanied by credentials explaining why an individual is being nominated. The woman must also be a residing in California.
