Five lucky female riders who took life by the handlebars won an all expenses paid ride from Milwaukee to Sturgis, S.D., this August courtesy of Harley-Davidson. The women entered the Motor Companys Saddle Up For Sturgis contest. These aspiring female riders and the riding buddies who helped them get started will travel to Sturgis alongside Karen Davidson, Harley Davidson creative director of General Merchandise and great granddaughter of founder William A. Davidson.
To enter the contest, women submitted a 100-word essay detailing why they wanted to Saddle Up for Sturgis 2006. Entries were judged based on attitude, creativity and the entrants commitment to riding. Winning riders include: Nancy Kowalewski of Union, N.J.; Renee McCormick of Colusa, Calif.; Diane Rosa of East Millstone, N.J.; Ashleigh Phipps of Villa Rica, Ga., and Jane Frank of Elgin, Texas.
